Following their meeting in Dublin in 2004, Gavin Bryars and Iarla Ó’Lionáird have been developing ideas for a collaboration. The result is Anáil Dé – The Breath Of God, a 35 minute work which sets Ancient Irish spiritual manuscripts from pre- 1600 combining traditional Irish music with modern European composition.
