Jeremias Schwarzer is regarded as one of the leading recorder players of his generation. After studying in Frankfurt/Main and Zurich he won first prizes at the International Recorder Competition of Calw in 1992 in the categories Solo performance and Ensemble performance. He held scholarships of Studienstiftung des Deutschen Volkes and of DAAD [German Academic Exchange Service] as well as of Stiftung Kunst und Kultur Nordrhein-Westfalen and was accepted several times in the grant programme “Konzert des Deutschen Musikrats” [Concert of the German Music Council]. In 2006 he won an encouragement award of the Ernst von Siemens Music Foundation. Schwarzer regularly gives concerts in Europe, the USA, Japan and Israel. Numerous radio recordings and CD co-productions. Jeremias Schwarzer is the founder and director of the ensemble Vivi Felice (early music) and ensemble avantage (new music). The intense collaboration with composers of new music (such as Myriam Marbe, Misato Mochizuki, Toshio Hosokawa, György Kurtág, Salvatore Sciarrino, Rolf Riehm, among others) has led to more 50 world premieres. Since 1994 he has taught at the Nuremberg Music Academy, has held master classes, lectures, workshops and guest residencies in Vienna, Freiburg, Belgrade, as well as at Harvard University, New York University, Salzburg Mozarteum and the Irino Foundation in Tokyo, and since 2006 has been a lecturer at the Darmstadt Summer Courses.
