Luca Francesconi, born 1956 in Milan. Studied piano and composition with Azi Corghi at the conservatory in Milan. Assistant to Luciano Berio, 1981–84. Founded the AGON center for electronic music in Milan, 1990. Professor of composition at the Malmö Academy of Music in Sweden since 2003. Honors include the Kranichsteiner Musikpreis (1990), the Siemens-Förderpreis (1994) and the Prix Italia (1994). Director of the Venice Biennale’s music festival since 2008.
