À propos de Nikola Lutz

Nikola Lutz studied saxophone in Bordeaux and Stuttgart and has made a name for herself as a performer of new and experimental music. She has played with important artists from the improvisation scene such as Sainkho Namtchylak, Peter Kowald, and Kasumi, and has premiered works by Makiko Nishikaze, Andrés Gonzáles, Maximilian Marcoll, Malte Giesen, Remmy Canedo, Ying Wang, and many others.

Nikola Lutz has inspired numerous composers to write for the saxophone, among them the French composer Christophe Havel, whose "XY" was written especially for Lutz’s Hörlabor ensemble. In 2001, Lutz founded the Stuttgart Saxophone Festival, and has taught classical saxophone at the University of Music and the Performing Arts Stuttgart since 2006.

In 2010, she won the First Prize (Prix du Conseil Général des Hauts de Seine) and the Audience Prize at the International Saxophone Competition at the Villa d’Avray in Paris. She received a Certificate of Honor from the University of Guangzhou in 2011, in recognition of her dedication to the training of young Chinese musicians.

Tours with classical and experimental music have taken Nikola Lutz to the USA, China, Brazil, Russia, and numerous European countries. In 2015, she was one of the founders and the first chairperson of S-K-A-M, the Stuttgarter Kollektiv für aktuelle Musik.
