Paul DeMarinis was born in 1948 in Cleveland OH and studied filmmaking with Paul Sharits at Antioch College, where he received his BA; in 1973 he earned his MFA in electronic music at Mills College after studies with Terry Riley. DeMarinis is an archaeologist of recording technologies and has presented both audio and optical instruments in his exhibitions. He is currently an associate professor at Stanford University.
