À propos de Paulo Ferreira Lopes

* 1966 in Lisbon, Portugal, Ferreira Lopes studied composition in Lisbon with Constança Capdeville, later composition in Paris with Emmanuel Nunes and Antoine Bonnet, and computer music with Curtis Roads. He received a master in composition under the advice of Horacio Vaggione and a doctor degree from University Paris 8. Ferreira Lopes further studied with Karlheinz Stockhausen at the Ferienkurse Darmstadt, and has been an artist in residence and researcher at ZKM | Center for Art and Media Karlsruhe. As a researcher, he also received a scholarship from the French Government. He is founder and director of the electronic music studio C.C.I.M. in Lisbon, the summer workshops Olhares de Outono at the Portuguese Catholic University Porto and a member of the European Cultural Parliament. He has been director of the Research Center for Science and Technology of the Arts (CITAR), is an assistant professor at Portuguese Catholic University, and a guest professor at University of Music Karlsruhe. Ferreira Lopez was awarded a composition prize at the Stasis et Vita competition, and his work was selected by the International Society for Contemporary Music to represent Portugal at the World Music Days. His works have internationally appeared and been performed by ensembles such as Accroche Note, OrchestrUtopica, ABSTRAI Ensemble, and Ensemble Modern.
