Teodoro  Anzellotti

Né: 1959
Pays d'origine: Italie
Teodoro Anzellotti (accordion) was born in Candela, a city in southern Italy’s Apulia region, but studied in Germany at the music universities in Karlsruhe and Trossingen. The winner of numerous international accordion competitions, he teaches at the Bern University of Arts and the University of Music in Freiburg.

Since the 1990s, his name has been associated with accordion performance in the field of classical music. Anzellotti has pioneered a new conception of the accordion’s sound, expanding its range of colors and establishing it as a complex and serious polyphonic classical instrument. Since the world premiere in 1995 of Luciano Berio’s Sequenza XIII in Rotterdam, Teodoro Anzellotti has performed in countless international festivals and been a soloist with numerous orchestras such as the Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra, the Staatskapelle Berlin, the Deutsches Symphonie-Orchester Berlin (DSO), the Bamberg Symphony, the Tonhalle Orchestra Zurich, the Cologne Radio Symphony Orchestra, the BBC Philharmonic, and the Orchestre de L’Opéra Bastille in Paris.

Anzellotti has premiered more than 350 works written especially for him by composers such as Georges Aperghis, Luciano Berio, Heinz Holliger, Toshio Hosokawa, Mauricio Kagel, Isabel Mundry, Brice Pauset, Gérard Pesson, Matthias Pintscher, Wolfgang Rihm, and Salvatore Sciarrino.
