À propos de Yuko Kakuta

The soprano Yuko Kakuta, born in Himeji, Japan, studied singing in Osaka and Kyoto as well as in Berlin at the Universität der Künste.

At the festival in Aix-en-Provence Kakuta gave her debut as Hermia (A Midsummer Night’s Dream). In 2002/03 she received a permanent engagement with the Hanover State Opera and since 2006/07 has been a member of the ensemble of the Stuttgart State Opera. Kakuta was soloist in the zeitoper production "GOT LOST" with music by Helmut Lachenmann and gave guest performances with this production at the Berne Theatre, the Salzburg Biennial and the Frankfurt Opera, among others.

Kakuta sang the soprano solo in Lachenmann's "Das Mädchen mit den Schwefelhölzern" at the Berlin Deutsche Oper, Ruhrtriennale and the Teatro Colón in Buenos Aires. In 2014/15 Kakuta for the first time sang the lieder by Toshio Hosokawa (world premiere) in Santiago de Compostella and at the Concertgebouw Brugge as well as Queen of the Night at the Berlin Komische Oper.

Yuko Kakuta gives guest performances as a soloist in Helmut Lachenmann's "Got Lost" at SWR Freiburg and NDR Hamburg and in the opera "Das Mädchen mit den Schwefelhölzern" at the Frankfurt Opera and the Spoleto Festival in the USA.
