This work takes a look behind the scenes of an opera première: the director is in despair that his vision is misunderstood, the star singer refuses to take part in the next performance because she dislikes her character, the critic uses the interval to begin writing his scathing review, and a member of the audience realises, to her disillusionment, that she has come to the wrong theatre. In short, this is ‘normality in the mad world of theatre’ presented by Tristan Schulze with great pace, humour and a sly wink of the eye.

Description
This caustic operatic caper is set on the evening of the premiere of a Magic Flute production. The cast includes a director torn between despair and anxiety, a sluggish critic who already begins writing his scathing review in the interval, an opera diva who refuses to perform in the second act, a culture vulture who has come to the wrong theatre, and finally, the chorus made up of fi ckle members of the audience.
Tristan Schulze and his librettists have transformed this classic theatre situation into a bizarre, over-excited farce, parodying the world of theatre with an affectionate but calculating wink.
