Description
Profondément touché par sa première visite à la ville de Jérusalem avec ses sept portes, Krzysztof Penderecki a composé cette grande œuvre vocale à l'occasion du 3000e anniversaire de la ville en 1995. Deux ans plus tard, elle était créée comme Symphonie no. 7 dans laquelle le chiffre 7 revêt une signification particulière : Des sept mouvements représentant les sept portes aux sept violents accords fortissimo terminant l'oratorio, le nombre biblique se retrouve tout au long de l'œuvre.
